Later, in February 1963, Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar of Udaipur (r. 1955 – 1984 CE), 75th Custodian of The House of Mewar, converted Jagniwas into a Heritage Hotel under the company The Lake Palace Hotels and Motels Private Limited, Udaipur. This put Udaipur on the tourist map, and people from all over the world, rich and powerful, heads of state and Hollywood actors, began flocking to Udaipur to live in a luxury hotel on an island in the lake. This is because the land on which it is built is barely visible, especially when the lake is full.
