Bijolai Palace - Jodhpur

Bijolai Palace, located almost 11 kilometres from Jodhpur’s city centre, is a wonderful retreat with a superbly cool and peaceful environment. The time-honored, excellent water conservation system that surrounds this fascinating place, however, distinguishes this amazing resort from others. The system uses an efficient mechanism, and the palace is self-sufficient in terms of water. The palace was converted into a tourist retreat laden with modern facilities for guests, as well as a Water Resource centre, after the former royal family handed it over to Jal Bhagirathi Foundation in 2002.

His Highness the Royal Maharaja Takhat Singh built the fascinating Bijolai palace as a summer relaxing retreat (1819-1873). The palace is located 11 kilometres outside of Jodhpur on a small hill and is surrounded on almost all sides by an efficient water harvesting system. After many years of serving as a royal retreat, the palace was given up by the royal family to the Jal Bhagirathi Foundation (JBF), which transformed it into a Water Resource Center that houses an NGO and a Water Habitat Retreat that now serves as a tourist resort where visitors can relax and learn about the surrounding areas.
